Paris-based sales and production group Wild Bunch recently unveiled that they will be launching Spring Breakers: The Second Coming. in which spring breakers do battle with an extreme militant Christian sect that attempts to convert them. While Harmony Korine wrote and directed the first film, he will not be back for the second, with Irvine Welsh penning the screenplay and Jonus Akerlund directing. “It’s not a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original,†says Wild Bunch co-chief Vincent Maraval, who added that there will be a mix of new and old cast in the production. Muse Productions, which owns the first film’s concept, will be co-producing the upcoming film with Wild Bunch and Mars Films.
